Royal Mail Hotel, Dunkeld, Australia

This one has it all. Five star cuisine! Extensive wine list. Beautiful scenery. Friendly staff. Comfortable accommodation.

If you don't want broadband in your room, this is the perfect place.

We stayed for two nights and our stay happened to coincide with the Dunkeld Festival. Highlights for us were

sitting around the fire with Roz and guests talking about Dunkeld
the tour of the RMH Cellar with Lok telling us about the things that go to produce quality wine
the tour of Mt Sturgeon homestead and talking to Heather about life on the land
the walking tour around Dunkeld with Ivo graphically describing the carnage of the '44 fires on the town.

It will take us a long time to find a fine hotel (hardly a pub!) to top this one!

Question:
Where would you go for lunch in Queenscliff on a Thursday afternoon in January?
Your boat and trailer need to be parked. You have been fishing for whiting all morning and you and your two mates have 30 fish that need some chilling badly.
You've been up since 4am and have had enough sun to last you all summer.
You need some food and shade and you also need to keep an eye on the boat.

Answer:
The Esplanade Hotel at Queenscliff.

Result:
The lovely lady in the bar served us cold, clean pots of Carlton Draught whilst we explained our predicament.
"Why you can have lunch at Harry's upstairs! They are open until 3:15 and you can look down the road and watch you boat. I'll set a corner table for you"
The nicest meal of fresh whiting, chips and salad - with another cold Carlton to wash it down.

One more beer would be nice - but there's always a pub somewhere.
